CONRAD A. GUENZEL GUENZEL CONRAD A. BERLIN, CONNECTICUT - Conrad A. Guenzel, age 44, of Berlin, Connecticut, died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday at the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale-New Haven Hospital. A graduate of Gateway High School in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, and Troy University, he is survived by his wife, Karen Schap, three children, Callista Zuffelato and her husband Peter, Nathan Morris, and Amanda Morris, his parents, Gregory and Teresa Guenzel, his mother-in-law, Callista Winkler, his brothers, Grant and Chris Guenzel, his sisters-in-law, Shannon and Dana Guenzel, his grandson, Wilder Orion Zuffelato, two nephews, Blase and Matthew Guenzel, a niece Greta Guenzel, and countless friends and co-workers at the Department of Veteran's Affairs in West Haven. Conrad was an incredibly kind and gentle soul who lived life to its fullest and touched everyone who knew him. His first love was his family, but he also had incredible passion for so many other things in life. His love of antique cars was evident in his own personal collection, which included his favorite 1967 Cutlass and his 1936 Chevy Coup. Conrad's love of birds could be witnessed on any given day in his backyard, where he welcomed a huge, beautiful variety of birds each and every day. Finally, Conrad's incredible passion for music could be found by browsing his collection of 3000 cd's ranging from classical to heavy metal. A celebration of Conrad's life will be held Wednesday 7pm at PORTER'S FUNERAL HOME, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington, Connecticut. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral from from 5-7pm. To honor Conrad's spirit we welcome you to dress casually. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Smilow Cancer Center, Office of Development, 157 Church Street, New Haven, CT 06510-2100.
