8TH STREET ROX (Mike Filosemi '75, Jim 'Bud' Donahue '75) will play a concert to benefit Monroeville's 12-year old Cooperstown Baseball Team. $20 admission includes concert, beer, soda, pizza, salad, and desserts!! Gateway Band Alumni Day July 4th, 2009
All Band Alumni (including silks, rifles and majorettes) and any former-band-member-parents are invited to march with the Gateway Senior High School Marching Band in Monroeville's 4th of July Parade. The alumni band members will wear black shorts & tennis shoes with t-shirts distributed prior to the parade. Participating alumni having a t-shirt from last year are encouraged to use them again this year in order to lighten band booster expenses. A picnic, followed by a practice, will begin at 4:30 PM on Friday July 3rd at the Senior High School. The meeting time and place for the parade will be given at the July 3rd practice. Music for the alumni participating in the parade will be posted on (http://gatewayband.org/Documents.html). If you will be attending, please R.S.V.P. to Bob Read via email at rread@gatewayk12.org. Bob's phone number at the school is 412-373-5751. Please respond by June 12, 2009. Please note your shirt size, section (instrument or auxiliary unit) and if you need to use a school supplied instrument or item. Last year (our first year for Alumni participation), there were 18 alumni and friends that marched with the Gateway Senior High School Marching Band and we had a great time! Please join us for another fun day this 4th of July!

American Cancer Society Relay For Life

We have a team full of Gator alumni down here in Sarasota, FL relaying in honor of Cindee (Lang) Reed's mother/ Robert (Osborne) Reed's grandmother Fay Lang. They are having a contest to see who can get donations from the greatest number of unique states. I figured what better place to look than here where Gators from all over the country congregate. Thank you in advance!!

(AN EXCERPT FROM CINDEE'S LETTER)
My mother, Fay, was diagnosed February 6, 2007 with Malignant Melanoma. Within one week’s time, she went from a healthy 79 yr old woman, to being weak and in severe pain. This heartless disease had weakened the person I knew as the strongest woman alive. Fortunately, I was able to take a leave from work and bring my mom here to Sarasota to spend her last month with my family and me. She passed away on March 11, 2007. Cancer is responsible for taking her so quickly from us. I thank God everyday that I was able to be with her for that entire time and let her know what a wonderful person she was, and how much she was loved.
I have grieved in my own way for mom for the past several years, but now feel I am ready to join the fight against cancer. Seeing her in pain and seeing what this disease does to such wonderful human beings left me wondering how I can make a difference. Then I found the Relay for Life. What my mother and so many thousands of people go through are why I have sponsored a team in her name this year and they are why I need your help!
I realize in this economic time, giving is harder then ever. However, please know one of the reasons that I am writing you, is because I am confident that you realize the importance of finding a cure! If everyone can just give a little, it WILL make a difference. No donation is too small and anything you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Class of 2000!!! Anyone thinking about plans for next years ten year reunion??? Anyone thinking the same thing just let me know and maybe we can start planning our first reunion... I had some ideas on what we can do and where we can go so let's make our 10 year reunion happen!!!
