My mom was the bravest and strongest person that I know. She fought her disease with such courage since she was diagnosed in August 2005 and did not give up without a fight. We will all miss her very, very much...... Dorothy D. "Dottie" (Pearce) McCreary, 59, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, after a gallant fight against ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Dot was a 1965 graduate of Gateway High School and a 1969 R.N. from West Penn Hospital. She was spearheading the 40th Gateway High School reunion when she was diagnosed last August. She began her nursing career at Camelback Hospital, psychiatric unit, Phoenix, Ariz. When she returned to Pittsburgh, she worked at Torrence State and St. Francis hospitals and lastly for 28 years at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic. She was very proud of her memberships in the Queen Aliquippa Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the alumni association of the Western Pennsylvania School of Nursing and was a devoted Steelers fans. Beloved daughter of the late Jim and MaeDean (Backus) Pearce. Wife of John "Jock" McCreary. Loving mother of Suzanne Cox (Kris) Kovel and Becky (Kevin) Cox-Davenport. Devoted "Gammy" of Ashley and Kaitlyn Kovel. Dear sister of Pitcairn Mayor Betsy Pearce Stevick and Ann Pearce (Hank) Zielinski. Aunt of Stacey Stevick Regotti, Kathleen and Patrick Gahagen and Mariah Zielinski. Loving cousin of Sally (Gus) Wickstrom and many other cousins. Also survived by many friends and devoted dog Piggy. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the WM. O. PEARCE FUNERAL HOME INC., 318 Wall Ave., Pitcairn. Services at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pitcairn. Everyone please meet at church. Contributions may be made to ALS Pittsburgh Chapter, 1 Station Square Drive, Suite 550, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, P.O.
